PayPal's stock soared 13% following its groundbreaking partnership announcement with OpenAI to integrate payment services into ChatGPT. The collaboration, finalized over the weekend, will enable PayPal's 400M+ users to transact via ChatGPT's interface starting next year, positioning the payments giant as a key facilitator of AI-driven commerce.

"This creates a paradigm shift for digital payments," said PayPal CEO Alex Chriss, emphasizing the platform's security advantages for AI-powered transactions. The deal marks OpenAI's latest MOVE to transform ChatGPT into a shopping hub after recent partnerships with Shopify, Etsy, and Walmart.

The technical integration will allow merchants using PayPal to sell directly through ChatGPT, while consumers gain a frictionless checkout experience. PayPal's concurrent Q3 earnings release and additional partnerships with Google and Perplexity signal aggressive expansion into AI commerce infrastructure.
